Here is my second illustration for my Flower Illustration Series titled chrysanthemum.

Chrysanthemum 菊花 is yet another favorite flower of mine. I am fascinating by different shapes and colors of Chrysanthemum. In Chinese culture, it is symbolized nobility, elegance, long life, and duration. It is also one of the “Four Gentlemen” 四君子 beside orchid 蘭花,bamboo 竹,and plum blossom 梅花 in Chinese culture. Often, you will be able to see Chrysanthemum along with other symbolic flowers in Chinese arts, poetry, and so on. Chrysanthemum is wild used by Chinese mainly because it symbolized “long life 長壽“and people love that meaning for it.

As Chinese New Year is approaching, I am going to contribute this Flower Series of mine to 2014 Chinese New Year!!

May this illustration bring you long life 長壽!!!

Here is my third illustration titled “Red Peony” for this Flower Illustration Series that I have introduced to you all on my previous post.

Stay tuned for the first illustration of Ni’s Flower Illustration Series!!
