Here is Ni’s illustrations for three different types of buns-Hot cross bun, Cinnamon bun, and Hamburger Bun. I am starting my Bread and Pastry Series design using all sort of breads, buns, and pastries around the world. This is my first try-out. I am still experimenting different techniques to help me design this series. The first image is a greeting card design that I did in watercolor and mixed media back in 2012. I just added the background today using Photoshop. The second and third one are my pattern designs that I just did using Photoshop today. My favorite one is the first pattern design. Lately, I am having so much fun creating patterns.
I LOVE breads, buns, and all sorts of pastry, and always want to try new ones whenever I get a chance. I grow up eating delicious Taiwanese breads back in Taiwan as a girl. It is something that is connected deeply to my childhood memories. So,every time I smell a fresh-baked bread, It always bring me back to my childhood time. I remember me and my dear family used to live in a house where there was a bakery store nearby. My sister and I would go there to watch bakers making all sort of breads by hands, and watched lots of dough went into the ovens and then came out to be all sorts of delicious breads and pastries . It was like MAGIC to me!!!!! I was so fascinated by it. Sometime, I would even help out in order to get fresh-baked breads as rewards. We have so many different kinds of breads in Taiwan, and I miss eating them!! However, living in America has giving me a great chance to try all sorts of breads, buns, and pastries from all around the world.
I want to use my skill as an illustrator to capture that childhood memories of mine. After all, It has always been my dream to illustrate them. Stay tuned for more Bread and Pastry designs/illustrations from Ni! ^____^
